Curvy Lines
The staircase, lighting, and the two chairs in the room have curvy lines.
    It effects the room by not being as plain as just some simple vertical staircase or chair.
It makes the room feel more modern.




Vertical Line
The brown curtains are horizontal lines.
These curtains add some height to the room.
The curtains give the room energy.

   
Horizontal Line
In this room the couch shows a horizontal line.
This couch makes the room feel cozy and warm.
It also effetcs the size of the room. It makes the room feel a lot bigger.

Diagonal Lines
In this room the wall/the actual shape of the room has a diagonal look to it.
It has a powerful effect on the room. It makes the room has more to look at.
The room makes the room feel more exciting. It makes the enviroment feel more funky.

Bio

Kate is the managing editor of Drab to Fab. She graduated from the California College of Arts with a Master's in the Decorative Arts and Design three years ago. When not researching design history, she practices yoga, rides her bike or goes on a nice run. She lives in a gorgeous loft apartment in Aliso Viejo, California. This is where she strives in designing places for younger people who like pops of color with some neutral colors that will never go out of style. She is designer of very little color and is working on her first book, about the essentials of designing a carefree environment. Whether it is just you living alone in a tiny studio apartment or you and your family in a huge house Kate is the perfect designer for you.

2013 Color Forecast

I used the neutral color of gray, neutral colors like gray, brown, white and black will always be in style. I used the monochromatic color scheme to show different shades of only gray in my family room olioboard. Colors such as neutrals, yellow, and of course blue. These colors are inspired by the taste of Americans. Ongoing war, elections, housing crisis and the economy all have an effect on the color foreecast.

This is a green monochromatic of the family's living room.



   


This is the twin boy's room, it is a complementary room of orange and blue.

This is the triadic color scheme of the parent's room, primary colors.
