Designed to Sell

While trying to sell a home a person must stage their house. This does not mean curtain calls and actors, it is cleaning up your house, and letting the buyers picture themselves in your house.

-Paint color, instead of having bright, bold colors in your house, repaint to be neutral colors that can't upset a person.
-Odors, neutral odors that everybody loves is a great way to go, so before you show your house bake some cookies or brownies or something that will smell delicious.
-Clutter, the need to picture them in your home is great, getting rid of family photos, extra junk, like child's toys and books will help with the clutter, less is more!
-Organization, this goes with the clutter piece as well, having things in hidden places makes the house look more appealing like it actually is organized.
-Beauty that stays, make the points that are gonna stay be the focal point this will help them to believe the beauty will stay.

Beauty that satys, (Chandelier)

Too much clutter!

Delicious Odor

Taking a little time before putting your house on the market will pay off in the long run. It will sell faster and get you more money as it goes.

Kitchen design

This is a very simple L-shaped kitchen. The Fridge, sink and oven make a triangular shape, with the sink in the middle. This kitchen was designed for a younger family who wanted counter space with simple appliances, dishwasher, oven, fridge, and sink with the microwave and toaster tucked in a cupboard.

Principle of Design: Rythm

rythm
In this board of rythm there is three different types put into it. The two pillows on the bed are both repetition and radiation. Repetition is obviously more than one of something, and radiation is something bursting from a center point. And then there is gradation, which is the two lamps in the left corner of the room. Gradation is two alike things being at different heights.

Element of Design: Texture

texture

In this board, both couchces look soft and give a comfy effect. The clock looks bumpy and the mirror on the right looks rough and has an outdoorsy effect on the room. The silver side table sounds like when you go over the white line and hit the drunk marks. This gives the room a funky feel. The rugs has an audible texture souding like shuffling. This gives the room a feeling of fun yet chill. The clock on the left side of the wall sounds clean and feels smooth, giving the room a chic feel to it. The lamp feels cold like metals and sounds screechy.

Principle of Design: Proportion and Scale

proportion

Proportion and Scale are a very important thing in a room. While you are designing a room you must think about the size of the objects that you are putting into the room alone as well as with the others. For an example, you cannot have a big coffee table with a little lamp on top of it, nor can you have a huge lamp on top of a snall table. The different sizes of the objects have to match each other. This room shows awful proportion and scale. The couch is too big for the room, the lamp is too small for the table that it is pplaced on and lastly the floor lamp is way too big the room.

Principle of Design: Proportion and Scale

proportion

This shows bad scale because the lamp on the table is too small to be on that table, as well as the couch adn coffee table are way too big for that room. The floor lamp and picture are also too big.

Bio

Kate is the managing editor of Drab to Fab. She graduated from the California College of Arts with a Master's in the Decorative Arts and Design three years ago. When not researching design history, she practices yoga, rides her bike or goes on a nice run. She lives in a gorgeous loft apartment in Aliso Viejo, California. This is where she strives in designing places for younger people who like pops of color with some neutral colors that will never go out of style. She is designer of very little color and is working on her first book, about the essentials of designing a carefree environment. Whether it is just you living alone in a tiny studio apartment or you and your family in a huge house Kate is the perfect designer for you.

2013 Color Forecast

color forecast
I used the neutral color of gray, neutral colors like gray, brown, white and black will always be in style. I used the monochromatic color scheme to show different shades of only gray in my family room olioboard. Colors such as neutrals, yellow, and of course blue. These colors are inspired by the taste of Americans. Ongoing war, elections, housing crisis and the economy all have an effect on the color foreecast.

Being a Roofer as an Occupation

What is a roofer?
A roofer is a person who installs and repair roofs using materials like, metal, shingles and asphalt.

Work Environment
The work environment for this occupation is not good at all, it is tiring and straining. It involves lots of lifting, bending and climbing/

Education/Training
For this occupation no formal education is needed, although high school math, shop, mechanics, and blueprint reading would be helpful. The training is really just the new workers being taught how to do what they are supposed to do and how by the more experienced workers that know what they need to do and what is expected.

Salary
$34,220.00

Job Outlook
This occupation is thought to grow by 18 percent from 2010 to 2020, this is the average growth of occupations from people leaving the occupation for a new one or retirement.

Interested
I am not interested in this occupation at all, I do not like heights because I am tall enough as it is. I also am not skilled in any of those things that it said I should be able to do, like climb and read blueprints and stuff. It is also very dangerous, because some roofs are very sloped and steep.

Housing Life Cycle

Age 17:

The house I want to live in right now is in Monticello. This house has a nice kitchen to fill my physical need of food as well as five bedrooms for shelter, storage and sleep. This home satisfies the psychological need of love and belonging, it has a great neighborhood with caring people, who will help you whenever you need something. This house is a rambler with a basement that has a very spacious family area, with a recreation room and family room.

Age 21:
This house fills my needs at the age of 21 because it is in Los Angeles California where I want to go to college and it is a small apartment, so it will be afordable. This plae will fill the physical need of a place to make food and have safety. It also gives me a sense of love and belonging because it is in an area with a lot of young people and is near my brother and sister. It has plenty of room for storage since it will just be me.

Age 41:

This is a nice, good sized home for when I am 41 and have a family. It is in a very nice neighborhood in San Francisco, near my good friend David Holaday. Being close to Dave will give us all a sense of love and belonging and my kids will hav other kids to play with because it is a neighborhood with other families. It is big enough for my family at this time as well as enough room for our storage. Living in California will be very good for me and my family.

Age 71:

This house for age 71, will be good because it is smaller and me and my husband won't need as much space but we need room for when other family comes to stay or for all our storage. It is in California so it will be a warm climate for me when I'm old. Their will be love and belonging because it will be by my family and friends.

Mood Board

assignment 1
My mood board overall shows that I am a very random person, I did not pick out these things to go into one room as they do not all match with each other. The fire pit and tree-like end table show that I am an outdoorsy person. The vibrant, colorful pillows, vases, and candle holders show the side that is spontaneous. The two comfy-looking beds, squishy couch, and wikery chair portray the part that loves to just be lazy and comfy. The crazy candles and luminous light fictures show that I like light, a lot. It isn't that I'm afraid of the dark, I just like to be able to see my work. My mood board really just shows that I am totally random.
